Editorial Policy

Finances News publishes free financial calculators and plain-language money guides covering mortgages, loans, credit, saving, investing and insurance. This page explains how we create and maintain our content, and the standards we hold it to. We publish educational information, not personalized financial, tax or legal advice.

How we create content

Our guides are written to answer real questions people search for, in clear language, with the assumptions made visible. Calculators run entirely in your browser using standard, published formulas; each calculator page states its inputs, the formula it uses, what it excludes, and that the figures are illustrative estimates rather than offers or approvals.

Accuracy and sources

Where we cite rates, rules or figures that can change, we aim to link to primary sources such as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), the Federal Reserve, the FDIC, the IRS and other official bodies. Interest rates and product terms shown in examples are illustrative and are not live quotes. Always confirm current terms with the relevant lender, insurer or a qualified professional before acting.

Review and updates

We review and update published guides as rules, rates or best practices change, and we show a last-updated date where a page has been revised. Calculator assumptions are reviewed when the underlying standards change.

Corrections

If you find an error, email us through our contact page with the page URL and the specific point. We correct confirmed factual errors promptly and note material corrections on the affected page.

Independence and advertising

Finances News may earn revenue from advertising displayed on the site. Advertising is kept separate from editorial content and does not determine our guidance, our calculator results or which topics we cover. Where a page contains an affiliate or sponsored link, we disclose it on that page.

Not financial advice

All content on Finances News is for general educational purposes only. It is not individualized financial, tax, legal or investment advice, and it does not account for your personal circumstances. Decisions you make are your own responsibility. Consult a licensed professional for advice specific to your situation. See our disclaimer for more.
